The 2018 Furtherance of Golf contribution of $2,000 from each Club was used this year to send six boys to the annual Nomads South Africa U17 Championship at St Francis Bay in the Eastern Cape.
Peter and his team put together three players from NSW and three from WA. Unfortunately, we were unable to get support or players from Queensland Golf.
The results for each of the players is below:
Tom Addy WA: 72 76 75 (+7) T9th
Jordan Jung WA: 78 77 73 (+12) T15th
Eddie Ward NSW: 78 74 77 (+13) T17th
Ian Pienaar WA: 75 76 80 (+15) T22nd
Jacob Dundas NSW: 82 77 73 (+16) T24th
Ali Rachid NSW: 83 84 73 (+24) T49th
We received feedback from Fritz Arnold and the three boys from NSW as shown below. In discussion with Dale, the trip was a great success and enjoyed by all. We have seven new supporters of Nomads and our goals.

Hi Vaughan and Dave,
On behalf of Golf WA, Golf NSW and the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation we would like to say a massive thank you for your support of the recent trip to the Nomads South African U17s Boys Championship. I had the pleasure of managing the 3 WA and 3 NSW boys as we travelled to St Francis Links to compete and the week was incredible.
Though the results of our players were not as good as hoped for, I can guarantee that every single one of them were better for the experience. The St Francis Links layout played tough just as Jack Nicklaus designed it to be, with Jordan Duminy from Pinnacle Point the eventual champion. We also had a chance to visit the Addo Elephant National Park, which allowed the boys to see some more of what South Africa had to offer. Some photos attached.
We recognise that together Nomads made a significant financial contribution, and you can be assured that the boys genuinely appreciated the special experience. We know that Nomads is a substantial organization globally, and the work you guys do to promote and support junior golf goes a long way. I hope that this trip is just the beginning of Nomads support of junior golf here in Australia and that the relationship can continue to expand in WA and NSW.

Hi Dave,
Firstly, I would just like to say a huge thank you for helping me get over to South Africa for the Nomads SA junior boys under 17’s championship. I had an amazing time and it was an amazing experience as well. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity over there and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I played decent golf as well coming tied 17th overall which I was very satisfied with.
Once again, I would just like to say thank you to you and Nomads on behalf of the 5 other boys and I who went over to compete.
